The eyes are often the first area to show signs of aging. Drooping lids or excess skin can make you look tired, sad, or older than you feel. Upper Blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery) in Denver offers a subtle yet powerful way to restore a more open, refreshed, and rested appearance—one that reflects the essence of who you truly are.

I’m Dr. Leela, Harvard Trained Plastic Surgeon and I see blepharoplasty as one of the most delicate and rewarding ways to rejuvenate the face. Who Is a Candidate for Upper Eyelid Surgery?

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Have drooping or excess skin on the upper eyelids
  • Experience visual obstruction or fatigue from lifting your brows
  • Desire a more refreshed, open-eye appearance
  • Feel your eyes look tired or aged even when you’re well-rested

Upper blepharoplasty can be performed as a standalone procedure or alongside lower eyelid surgery. During your consultation, I’ll assess your anatomy and goals to recommend the best approach for restoring your eyes.

Why Choose Upper Eyelid Surgery?

  • Reduces sagging skin that can make you appear tired or older
  • Improves your field of vision if droopy lids interfere with sight
  • Creates a smoother upper eyelid contour while maintaining natural expression

Even subtle changes to the eyelids can have a significant impact. During your consultation, I’ll design a customized plan to refresh your eyes with precision and artistry.

Leela Mundra - About the Procedure

About the Procedure

Upper eyelid surgery removes and repositions excess skin and fat while preserving the natural contour of the eyes. This procedure addresses droopy upper eyelids, which can contribute to a tired or sad appearance and sometimes interfere with vision.

The surgery begins with a fine incision hidden in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Through this incision, excess skin is removed, and fat is either repositioned or refined to create a lifted, refreshed look.

For select candidates, upper eyelid surgery can be performed comfortably in the office under local anesthesia. This minimally invasive approach allows for a quicker recovery while delivering natural, refined results.

Recovery and Healing

After upper eyelid surgery, patients may experience mild swelling, tightness, and bruising, typically peaking within 2–3 days and gradually improving. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work and light activities within 7–10 days. Makeup and contact lenses can usually be resumed after 10–14 days, depending on your healing.

Final results become more visible as swelling subsides over several weeks to a few months. I’ll monitor your recovery closely and provide guidance to ensure a smooth healing process and beautiful, natural results.

Upper Eyelid Surgery FAQs

Will scars be visible?

Incisions are hidden in the natural eyelid crease or inside the eyelid. Once healed, scars are discreet and difficult to detect.

Will surgery change my eye shape?

No. The goal is a refreshed, natural look—you’ll still look like you, just more rested.

Can blepharoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Eyelid surgery can be performed with facelifts, brow lifts, rhinoplasty, or lower blepharoplasty for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. We’ll discuss your options during your consultation.

How long do results last?

Results are long-lasting. Depending on skin quality and natural aging, most patients enjoy their refreshed appearance for 10 years or more, while continuing to look more rested than without surgery.
